Q: I have very long hair and a problem with tangles. It's matting like you wouldn't believe. Every day I have to spend ages combing out the tangles. Is there a solution to my problem?
A:Before you start shampooing your hair, apply a conditioner to your wet hair, comb the hair and rinse it. Then apply shampoo on your scalp only. (You can use shampoo for chemically treated hair even if your hair is not colored, permed or relaxed. It contains moisturizers.) With your finger tips (do not use fingernails) massage your scalp. After a minute or so spread your fingers and in a comb like manner work the shampoo down your hair shaft to your ends. Repeat. Apply your favorite conditioner, comb your hair before rinsing it, then rinse using your fingers in a comb like manner again. Towel dry by just squeezing the water from the hair. Do NOT rub your hair, it would tangle. You can also wrap your hair with your towel in a turban like style. Do not dry too much before you comb it. Spray on leave in conditioner (Joico makes good one called "Lite") and comb your hair. Have your hair regularly shaped and keep your long hair in the shortest length you can possibly handle.
It is a good idea to alternate shampoos. You should never use Henna shampoos, because they dry up hair and hair tangles easier..
